LG G Flex 2 VS LG G Flex Comparison Overview

At the CES 2015, LG added a new flagship
smartphone to its portfolio with the launch
of the LG G Flex 2 smartphone with a curved
design and self healing back cover. Well,
there are several enhancements in this 2015
model against the yesteryear variant. We
can say that the latest offering packs in all
the necessary specifications and features in
it to be a top notch device in the market. If
you are planning to upgrade your
smartphone to a curved device, here is
comparison between the LG G Flex 2 and
the original LG G Flex.
Display and Processor
The G Flex 2 is given a smaller display
measuring 5.5 inches, while there is a 6 inch
screen on the original model, but in terms of
resolution it is the successor that tops the
segment with Full HD 1920×1080 pixels as
compared to the HD 1280×720 pixel
resolution on the 6 inch screen of the G
Flex. Eventually, it is the latest model that
has a better pixel density that is
complemented with the Corning Gorilla Glass
3 protection, while there is Gorilla Glass 2 on
the previous generation device. Otherwise,
both the smartphones use the Curved P-
OLED panel that will render the curved
design to them that is their main highlight.
LG G Flex 2 arrives equipped with a 64 bit
octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810
chipset that makes use of a 1.5 GHz quad
core Cortex A53 and a 2 GHz quad core
Cortex A57 and Adreno 430 graphics unit.
This processor is teamed up with 2 GB or 3
GB of RAM depending on the internal
storage capacity of the smartphone. Also,
the handset runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop that
puts the 64 bit computing support of the
chipset to full usage. The G Flex, on the
other hand, is stuffed with a quad core 2.3
GHz Snapdragon 800 SoC that is Krait 400
processor, Adreno 330 graphics card and 2
GB of RAM. With 64 bit computing support
and an advanced processor with eight cores
to function, the latest offering would
undoubtedly provide a great performance.
Camera and Internal Storage
On the imaging front, the LG G Flex 2 again
wins with a 13 MP primary camera as in the
original model. But, the snapper on the
latest device is teamed up with optical
image stabilization, dual LED flash and
support for 2160p video recording that were
not in the G Flex. At the front, both the
handsets sport identical 2.1 MP front facing
selfie cameras with support for FHD 1080p
video recording.
While the original G Flex is available only
with 32 GB of internal storage space that
cannot be expanded externally as there is no
micro SD card slot onboard, the G Flex 2
comes in two variants – 16 GB and 32 GB
that can be expanded externally by another
128 GB. The inclusion of the micro SD
expansion card slot on the current model is
definitely a welcome addition to the cured
display smartphone.
Battery and Features
Talking about battery life, the G Flex 2 has a
smaller 3,000 mAh battery than its
predecessor that is energized by a 3,500
mAh battery. While it remains to be seen if
this difference in the battery capacity will
create an impact on the backup that can be
rendered to the G Flex 2, the handset comes
with fast charging capabilities that is
claimed to charge the device up to 50
percent in just 40 minutes.
The G Flex 2 definitely provides a better
software experience with Android 5.0
Lollipop that brings few changes to the user
experience rendered by LG G3. Also, the self
healing technology appears to have come
with a major enhancement that will heal the
scratches in just ten seconds instead of
having the users to wait for three minutes as
in the G Flex.
Price and Conclusion
The G Flex 2 features a more standard size
and packs in the latest processor, a fantastic
camera and other enhancements as
compared to its predecessor. It is known to
arrive with a better self healing technology
and improved features with the latest
software. We will have to wait for LG to let
out the pricing of the device to get know
how accessible it is.
